On the Job: Day One

Today, the tenth of June, 2010, was the first day the Kauffman kids were allowed to get some actual work done on site. We opened our eyes bright and early and arrive on site at a whopping seven am for the safety instructions, followed by a drug test (which we all thankfully passed), followed by initial measuring in a few of the blocks. Tomorrow is due to be another day of measuring with intentions to begin laying paint down sometime Monday. Below are some of the images of our first actual day working on the site. Enjoy, and check back often, as I'm sure more and more images will be streaming in as the mural progresses.

Schedule Push

Hello everyone. As some or all of you may have been aware, we were scheduled to start this coming Monday (the 24th). However, due to door-installment issues, we have been pushed back. We do not know the date of our beginnings at this point, but it is expected to be sometime the following week. I will keep everyone updated as I know.

Since the workload got heavy, we had to push deadlines back. THIS IS THE NEW SET though, no exceptions. Come on kids. :D

Job Reminder

Just reminding the design students to start working on the essays they agreed to do. We need rough drafts of those by Monday.

Everyone needs to still be getting images to Bryan or myself. If you're giving them to me you can put them on my cas (agallagher) but if you do that you need to email me (blondesrsnart@sbcglobal.net). If you have hard copies to give to Bryan you can put them on his desk in the design building or email him to make other arrangements.

We need your personal bios (clean rough draft at LEAST) by this coming Wednesday (the 28th).
We need your ideology for your pieces/process (at LEAST another clean rough draft) by Monday (May 3rd).

Micah and I are going to create the PDF to send of the final two designs tonight. I guess most of the design kids are going to go take photos of those pieces tonight at 6.

So... I don't have a bio from ANY of the painters (except Dan)... They ARE still due today by the start of class! Don't forget, or you wont have a bio page in the book! Cool thanks.

I think everyone has heard by now that we're going to be creating a process book for the entirety of the Kauffman Center mural planning/painting experience. PS- It would be very beneficial if you could put any photos you have taken of/for the class onto a flash drive or cd that I can get from you tomorrow (wednesday) in class. The more images we have, the better the book can be! Thanks!
